The Smug Fig, East Brisbane

Nestled between a gorgeous garden nursery and a quirky antiques homeware store, The Smug Fig is a homely, garden cafe with a fresh vegetarian menu to match! There’s nothing better than enjoying a beautiful vegetarian dish while sitting among delicate plants and sweet vases of fresh flowers in a light and airy space – which is exactly what The Smug Fig cafe aims to deliver!

With beautiful murals of hummingbirds and flowers, open windows which allow the natural light and gentle breeze to flow through and the soft timber furnishings, The Smug Fig cafe uses Mother Nature as decoration to illuminate the space and inspiration for the menu.

The Gardener’s Harvest brunch with homemade tabouli, roasted pumpkin and sweet potato, grilled capsicum medley and couscous pearls was deliciously fresh, zingy from the lime juice and oh so healthy! Inspired by the gorgeous plants and garden surrounding the cafe, this dish was full of garden fresh plants and herbs like rocket and parsley and was a very organic dish with all the ingredients working harmoniously together. The couscous pearls were a beautiful addition that added a soft texture and the pumpkin and sweet potato were roasted to sweet perfection which balanced the zestiness of the lime.  A perfect vegetarian dish, the Gardener’s Harvest is a must order for any vegetarian as it’s healthy, nutritious, fresh and full of plant based goodness!

A gorgeous garden haven away from the hustle and bustle of Brisbane life, The Smug Fig is the complete cafe package with a beautiful, light spacious area and delicious, fresh vegetarian food straight from the garden. Escape the city life and sit among the sweet plants and flowers at The Smug Fig cafe and enjoy a delicious vegetarian meal next breakfast, lunch or weekend!
